FAQs

  • What should I wear?
For dance classes, you can wear comfortable clothing and shoes (shoes that have too much traction and don't allow for easy pivots or turns might cause injury, but dance shoes are not required for Beginners). Once you advance on your learning journey, each style has recommended shoes - please ask your instructor in person.
  • When do your class cycles start?
It depends: Some classes run on a monthly unit (most partner classes such as Beginners Salsa, Bachata, and Zouk start on the first week of every calendar month) and other classes are drop-in meaning you can come by any time since we teach new choreo/info every week that doesn't build up from previous lessons. Please check our schedule to see which ones are a one-month unit.
  • What is the difference between 4 or 5 week "unit' passes and regular 5 or 10-class punch cards?
- Our 'unit' pass is a discounted pricing option for 1 dance class for 1 calendar month. This pass was exclusively created for classes that run in a monthly syllabus, to encourage students to attend all the lessons in the syllabus. You must attend the same class, every week consecutively. This is our most popular package since it's the cheapest per class, but please understand the terms and conditions mentioned. This pass cannot be mixed with different classes, just the same class at the same time slot every week by the same instructor. Unattended classes do not roll over. Once the monthly syllabus class ends, this pass expires. The two options for 4 or 5-week cycles depend on how many days that calendar month has.
- Our multi-class punch cards are more flexible as you can take different classes at different times lots by different instructors. This one is recommended if you take drop-in choreo classes that do not run on a monthly syllabus. The two options are 5 classes (expires after 2 months) or 10 classes (expires after 6 months).
- No pricing options are shareable. Each student must sign up individually and have a separate payment.
- No refunds. All sales are final. We do not extend expired passes.
  • Can I share my 10-class card with my spouse?
No pricing options are shareable. Each student must sign up individually and have a separate payment.
  •  Do I need a partner?
No, you do not need a partner. In partner dancing classes we rotate partners so everybody gets a chance to dance with a partner.
  • Do I need to rotate in group partner dance classes?
Yes. We require every body to rotate in partner dance classes regardless if you came with a partner or not.  These are social dances and we rotate so that everybody learns to properly lead and follow and this can only be done by rotating.  Couples tend to try and help each other and this will interrupt the ability to properly learn leading and following.  If you would like to only learn with your partner then we suggest private lessons for that so we can help you individually and you will still learn to properly lead and follow.
  • Why do yo only teach On2 Salsa?
There are several factors for that decision but in short; On2 is the predominant style/timing in NY where Salsa comes from so it is more culturally true. it is also more in line with the musical structure and musicality of Salsa music it is quickly rising in popularity globally even in areas that used to be predominanty on1 such as LA, and lastly, visiting instructors coming to Portland to teach workshops predominantly prefer to teach on2 so our students will be better equipped to benefit from their knowledge.
