ABOUT CASINO
Casino is a Cuban-style partner dance originating in Havana, Cuba in the late 1940s to early 1950s. It is the descendant of Cuban Son, a more formal dance which incorporates promenade-type movements with your partner; however, the dance has evolved, incorporating more turns (vueltas), intricate arm locks, and more complex concepts.
Some accounts say Casino started as a group dance – Rueda de Casino, similar to square dancing where a circle of dancers execute moves and exchange partners on the command of one caller – while others say it started as a partner dance. Either way, you can learn the foundation movements of Casino in either context (Rueda or not).
Casino Classes at VMAC will focus on partnerwork. The foundations you learn here will easily transfer to beginner Rueda classes you may take in the future!

We highly encourage all new students to VMAC to take these classes from level 1 Beginners, even if they have been social dancing before or taken classes at other studios, to get familiar with our studios, teaching style, vocabulary, our VMAC culture and community.
CASINO 1 BEGINNERSLevel 1 has 3 units: 1 Teal, 1 Orange, and 1 Navy. Make sure to take all 3 units before moving to Level 2. Not needed in any order, just some time before moving up.
Wednesdays 6:30pm
The focus will be on the fundamentals of Casino. If you've never taken a Casino Class before, want to brush up on the basics, or are working off some rust after a long hiatus, this class will help you do it.
We'll be starting from scratch, so you'll learn:

No prerequisites. Beginners level.
Bring comfortable clothes and a smile!
No partner needed. All students rotate around.
CASINO 2 BEYOND BEGINNERS
Level 2 has 3 units: 2a, 2b, and 2c. Make sure to take all 3 units before moving to Level 3. Not needed in alphabetical order, just some time before moving up.

Continuing to focus on the fundamentals of Casino, we'll expand our vocabulary to include more movements which are unique to the Casino style!
