ABOUT CASINO
A common misunderstanding about Casino (Cuban-style dance) is that it is only done as a group (i.e., Rueda de Casino).
In reality, many of the calls you learn in the Rueda can be led and followed in a partner setting, and you'll find yourself partner dancing 95% of the time at places where Casino-style dance is held. Obviously, the concepts you learn in either class will help you if you end up taking Rueda classes, as well!
Among other things, you'll learn:
-How to communicate with your partner as a lead and follow
-The necessary footwork you need to know for all the foundation Casino turn patterns
-The differences between Timba music and salsa music
-Body isolation - adding "funk" to your Casino dance

CASINO PROGRAM AT VMAC
We highly encourage all new students to VMAC to take these classes from level 1 Beginners, even if they have been social dancing before or taken classes at other studios, to get familiar with our studios, teaching style, vocabulary, our VMAC culture and community.

Level 1 has 3 units: 1 Teal, 1 Orange, and 1 Navy. Make sure to take all 3 units before moving to Level 2. Not needed in any order, just some time before moving up.
Tuesdays 6:30pm
In this new Beginner Partnering Class, you'll learn:
- How to communicate with your partner as a lead and follow
- The necessary footwork you need to know for all the foundation Casino turn patterns
- The differences between Timba music and salsa music
- Body isolation
- adding "funk" to your Casino dance
Pass depends on the month...
Requirements:
No prerequisites. Beginners level.
Bring comfortable clothes and a smile!
No partner needed. All students rotate around.

Level 2 has 3 units: 2a, 2b, and 2c. Make sure to take all 3 units before moving to Level 3. Not needed in alphabetical order, just some time before moving up.

-Fundamental lead and follow techniques
-Promenades
-Simple pretzels common in Casino
-Handwork

Have you been taking Rueda de Casino classes elsewhere, but feel unsure of yourself when dancing outside of a called circle? Having trouble leading or following your partner when Casino dancing socially?
Have you been taking Rob's Beyond Beginner Partnering Class and have the basics down, and are looking to make more progress?
If either of the above apply to you, then you're ready for the Casino Partnering - Intermediate class!
Tuesdays 8:30pm
Learn the following Intermediate concepts on:
- Cleaning up the communication between lead and follow
- Advanced Footwork (for both leads and follows)
- Advanced Handwork (for both leads and follows)
- Higher-level concepts you can take with you to advanced Casino Classes
