Lindy Hop
Class Description
Class 1: Intro to 6-count movements Description: For those new to the world of swing dancing! Introduction to the jazz and swing dance style born in the Black communities of Harlem in the 1920s and 30s. This course will build the foundation you will carry through all of your future Lindy Hop adventures. We will cover the basic 6-count footwork, connecting to the music and your partner, closed and open connection, and basic turns.
Class 2: Six-count passby’s, and free spins oh my! Description: Continuing from where we left off in the first class, we will explore more open connection variations, 6-count passby’s, free spins, and improvisation/musicality.
Class 3: “The Swingout” Description: Now with some basics under your belt we will challenge you to grow further in your dancing by introducing THE defining move of Lindy Hop, “The Swingout”. We will introduce you to the standard 8-count footwork, the lead-goes/follow-goes pattern, and finally The Swingout itself.
Class 4: Tying it all together! Description: Building on the previous classes, we will introduce the Lindy Circle to round out your 8-count vocabulary. Then we will work on leveling up your connection and starting to play with all the movements learned in the series.
